About the Author

Prof. Dr. V. Seshiah was born and brought up at Chennai. His father 'Mr. Veeraswamy' was an employee of Railways and his mother 'Mrs. Bavanamma' was a humbled homemaker. Fortunate to have supportive wife Mrs. Janobai.

Since he got inspired by his elder brother 'Dr. Perumal, Prof. Dr. V. Seshiah enrolled himself to study medicine at 'Madras Medical College' in 1957 on its Golden jubilee year.

In 1962, he volunteered himself to serve in 'INDO-CHINA WAR. There he joined as Lieutenant in the Indian Army Medical Corps (AMC). Then he was promoted as a Captain and posted as medical officer, for Infantry Battalion in J&K and also took part in the 'INDO-PAK WAR at URI POONCH BULGE. In recognition of his service in the war theatre he was awarded "SAMAR SEVA STAR 1965" and "SAINYA SEVA MEDAL" with clasp HIMALAYAS. Then he completed his 'MD' in Medicine at 'Stanley Medical College' and studied from great teacher 'Prof. M. Viswanathan, who is the Father of Diabetology in India.

While he was in state government service, he joined as an 'Assistant professor' at Madras Medical College (MMC) and got an opportunity to work with his mentor 'Prof. Sam GP Moses.'
